“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here!”
[ 2 Corinthians 5:17 ]
Saint Matthew Pentecostal Church exists as a church for three reasons:
1) the glorification of God,
2) the edification of the saints, and
3) the evangelization of the world.
We could sum it up this way: upward, inward, and outward.
Upward: As a church we exist to bring glory to God. That is not only true of us in our worship service, but it is also true of us in life. In the Bible, a church is defined as a body of baptized believers. Whatever we do as a church, we strive to bring glory to God: in our careers, in our marriages, and in the choices we make in life.
Inward: We, the church, also exist for the edification, or building up, of the saints. That is why we give such a prominent place to weekly Bible study. We have always done that, and we will always do that. Not only does the edification of the saints include Bible study, but it also consists of encouraging one another, building up one another and serving one another.
Outward: Lastly, there is the evangelization of the world, which is really the outgrowth of the first two. As believers in Jesus Christ, if we are glorifying God and being built up in the word of God, then to encourage all that we encounter and thereby evangelize the world, we would be fulfilling the Great Commission.
[ Matthew 28:18–20 ]
We exist to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things while compelling all that Jesus Christ is man's only hope for salvation.
[ John 3:16 ]
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
